[IC] Lost in Space: Kleveland Delta

NeadenNeaden Registered User regular
“Navigational match, 94%. System Identified: Mavros Sector Identified: Kleveland Delta. Colonized 2348. Colonized Planets Identified: Sileco, Haurramari, Thorkatla. Radio signals detected from Haurramari and Thorkatla. No Post-Scream Data on system found. Closer scan necessary to identify technology level.”

The computers report confirms how far you have come, riding the current in metadimensional space to get away from your pursuers. Farther then you have ever traveled before in your lives. Farther than the real owners of the ship could ever come in pursuit.

You are low on supplies. You are lost. You are out of fuel for your spike drive. You are stuck on this ship with 5 other criminals. But you have your own ship and if you are lucky you could end up rich beyond your wildest dreams.

Your ships available data about the system below.
Siliceo. 5th Planet from the sun. Temperature is arctic but habitable near the equator. Atmosphere is thick, pressure mask required. Native life was discovered upon colonization and edible. No radio signals detected.
Haurramari. 6th Planet from the sun. Temperate with a breathable atmosphere. No native life recorded. Radio signals detected.
Thorkatla. 8th Planet from the sun. Temperature is cold but livable. Atmosphere is breathable and only microbial life present upon colonization. Radio signals detected.

    Solonatin "Sol" Kul, Callsign: Ghost

    Background: Researcher
    Class: Psychic
    Package: Military Psychic

    Appearance:
Kulanids are humanoid in stature. Their defining characteristic is purple skin and tentacled mandibles. Many Kulanids often wore cloaks to protect against the continuous rain found on their planet. Sol wears his military issued multifaceted Rifle-integrated headsight over his eyes.

    Backstory:
Solonatin was a researcher. A respected position in his race, the Kulanids. They were devoted to discovering what caused the Scream and were positive that whatever happened would happen again. As this was their main focus, the Kulanids never saw the first attack coming. In one assault, half their planet was wiped out and an army was marching to eradicate the rest. The enemy was a grotesque insectoid race. Solonatin volunteered. Solonatin had a natural aptitude for hand to hand combat and infiltration, making him a wanted recruit for the Kulanid Sniper Unit. Mainly used on solo missions, the Sniper Units were fabled to being death to those in their wake. During the entire war only one was ever captured and presumed executed. The enemy called them "Revenants". The war was being lost and every ship was to transport the remaining race off the planet. Solonatin stayed behind with those that remained to protect the escape, a lucky decision as most of the convoys were destroyed before leaving the atmosphere. After surviving for what seemed like an eternity, Solonatin was able to smuggle himself aboard an outbound supply ship and escape from his tortured planet.

    Goals:
Find the rest of his race...if any remain.
Learn about the source of the Scream
    Survive

Sol stood in the corner of the room. He enjoyed having his back watched by something he could trust...walls. As far as these other fools were concerned, for now they were a means to...some end. An end he hadn't figured out yet. He had been alone on that planet for too long, camaraderie was something he was a bit rusty on. Criminals were not the company he was expecting to keep for long. Though, they had proved themselves rather useful in taking the ship. As long as Sol was far from that blasted planet he was content to contribute to the group.

"I doubt they will find us way out here, wherever we are, but I am not one to tempt fate and though I hate the feel of pressure masks Siliceo may be a place to lay down this burden of a ship. Native life and no radio signals means we would be out of the way. We may not be able to thrive, but we may survive until we can get a stable hold on this system."

Sol's years on the run began to kick in and survival training took him over. Instinct began to cloud his judgement and he knew it. He wouldn't let him self slip back into what he became in the wilderness on that planet.

"Otherwise we could set down on one of the others and grab some fuel for the rustbucket. We could make another jump further away. As long as we do not leave a bigger trail.

Come to think of it, was there a tracking device aboard this heap?"

Hugh came from a frontier world, high tech and booming in prosperity. Unfortunately, he was not one of those prosperous ones. Born to poverty, he did whatever he had to to get out. He jumps on opportunities quickly, often without thinking them through. Even so, he's still wondering how he found himself on a space ship out in a random system he knows basically nothing about.

    Goals:
-Do something noteworthy, get his name out there, famous, infamous, doesn't matter.
-Acquire a small amount of wealth (10,000 credits maybe?)
-Improve the space ship. This is going to be his home for a little while, after all, might as well make sure it's a good one.

Hugh shook his head. "I don't think we need to worry about being chased. We need to worry about our lack of supplies and fuel." He stared at the map of the systems. A fresh start...A whole new playground... Hugh smirked. "Silicio...I think I heard about that planet somewhere..." He tried to remember everything he'd heard about the planet. "It might be a good place to lie low, as long as we don't get stuck there without fuel."

The planet rings a bell Hugh
A wandering trader you once met sold you a book of the purported travels of an explorer who once spent time here. The degenerate descendents of a great nation who built great bubble cities on the face of the world. Little bits of paradise on a desolate wasteland that they built with the help of the original inhabitants of the world. He told the story of some pirates who thought they had found a world ripe for the plucking but were destroyed in seconds after they fired a warning shot, the automatic defenses a legacy of the pre-Scream builders.

First Impressions: Ekseppek Clectikinihvepikit is a Coleosketiktip, a rusty colored, beetle-like insectoid species known to inhabit compact urban areas in a tribal society. There's one reproducing queen among a couple hundred or so mostly neuter males, but every few years, they have a great contest where a few males travel space to earn the right of mating. Some expect to win, while others are sent out in the hope they will never return. Eksep belongs in the latter, a tech who drew the short straw from his subunit. He's a wiry, black bug-eyed fellow who's nervous, usually complaining about how cold it is, and always disappointed about how inefficiently uncooperative humans are.

"We might be lost but we still have our skin," Ekseppek Clectikinihvepikit - or Eksep for short - shouted from the seat at the navigation console. The five foot tall bug man was bundled in a gray blanket while he idly poked at the controls.

"Hmmm," Hugh scratches his chin. "If we do go to Silicio, we need to show ourselves as completely non-threatening. I remember hearing a pirate ship got destroyed in moments after firing a single shot. The defenses on that planet are not to be messed with. If we did manage to get to the surface though, there could be some good scrap down there."

Eksep brought Silicio up on the display and tapped on the console a few times.

"It is good enough," he got up and went for the pilot's seat, "I do not like waiting in space. Just waiting to be found, no, that is no good. Maybe the defense screen will keep us safe, at least keep us safe long enough to get acquainted with this system."

In the interest of keeping this moving let's try to get a response for which planet to visit in 24 hours? @l3lasphemer69 @Mikey CTS if you are still interested.

If not obvious, Hugh is for Silicio.
