OK so now that I'm back from work and playing Super Metroid again I still feel stupid stuck in the same place.

So do missiles open red doors? The door flashes blue briefly when I fire a missile at it but nothing happens.

I dunno, turning it effectively into a wiiU gamepad there at the end with that base was pretty rad.

Never gonna happen though.

When asked about phone games they've been pretty adamant about the importance of buttons (and despite some games being fine with it on phones, I tend to agree); and they couldn't rely on people buying that base to do so.

That phone thing would be so niche, it would never be sustainable. They're better off adding phone functions to the 3DS XL nd calling it a day. An NGage 2.0 if you will. Well, but with good games.

With bluetooth and other wireless technologies existing I'm not sure why you wouldn't just tack on some cell phone abilities to the 3DS. Sure you'd look stupid talking into the thing but with a headset you'd only look as silly as all the other people wearing them.

They don't need to release their own phone, they just need to release apps and games for the current market. How much money would an official Mario game make on iOS?

I think that's a move toward third party developer that, whether wise or not, Nintendo is not interested in heading.

I despise trying to play platformers on touchscreens.

Great for those who can put up with it, and/or enjoy it but no thanks.

About the only games I really can get into on my phone are RPG's and TD games.

I commented on it earlier in the thread, while the Direct was going on.

I'd fucking love it if it was released outside Japan. I stopped halfway through Yakuza 2, but I'm planning on picking it up again soon. I'm eventually gonna buy a PS3 once it's cheaper to play Yakuza 3 & 4, but it'd be great if I could play all of them on the Wii U.
