Guy on JET was complaining to me about how it is so hard to make ends meet on JET, how he had to get a separate job in the side to make ends meet, how lucky I was to live in a rural area and not a city in terms of costs of living.

He just posted his new watch on facebook. It's a Lamborghini watch (apparently they make watches). The cheapest one I found online was like $1.5k.

Yeah, I think I know what is making you have a hard time making ends meet buddy.

Does anyone have a recipe for humble pie
    First google result:

    http://www.grouprecipes.com/98487/humble-pie.html
Humbles are deer entrails and when venison was the sole preserve of the English aristocracy ,the poor peasants were given the entrails ,the guts or whatever you call the nasty bits !!
Parboil the Humbles of a Deer
Take all the Fat off them
Add the Beef Suet and mince it very small together
Season it with Cloves,Mace ,Nutmeg ,and a little Cinammon and Salt
Put some Currants,Candy's and Dates ,stoned and sliced
Fill your Pye and lid it
When baked put in some Sack and serve it
This ancient recipe is from Castle Howard in Yorkshire and is the inspiration for the saying "to eat humble pie " as only the peasants ate this pie ,the better meat being saved for the aristocrats .It was written down in 1734 .

    eh

in all likelihood he's a douche but i learned while on food stamps that it can be really impossible and problematic to make calls along these lines

maybe it's a gift from family or he got a sudden windfall and he's treating himself after a tight budget while on JET etc or whatever

I really don't care how he decides to spend his money, I just think he has voided his right to complain to to me about how he is having a hard time making ends meet.

Like, if you want to drop over half a paycheck on a watch, go for it, but that's your decision. Own your decisions.

And also, it isn't like he is on food stamps. He makes more income than I do.

I had a spider do that to me.

Except it didn't crawl on to my foot, it crawled on to my bare ass because I sat down without checking.

Yeah, checked under the seat before sitting every time for like a year after that.

My best friend got a $5k watch from his mother in law whom he hates.

He never wears it unless she's around.

I can only imagine he's infuriated he can't throw it on e-bay.

Belief in biblical end-times stifling climate change action in U.S.
The United States has failed to take action to mitigate climate change thanks in part to the large number of religious Americans who believe the world has a set expiration date.

    Fuckwits.

I've been saying this for years. The kinds of climate activity we see that are particularly destructive are going to be interpreted as "end times" events that are due to the unrepentant sin in our world, as opposed to, you know, science.

Phone as watch is dumb because you have to get it out of your pocket.

I bet you hate pocket watches too? At least pocket watches are status symbols that look cool.

I don't like having stuff on my wrists so I am not a fan of watches.

Never found taking a phone out for the time to be inconvenient, though, for some lines of work having a watch seems really useful.

It's really just a preference thing. And I mean, they are basically jewelry for men.

i know some dudes wear watches in part because of the decorum in their workplace- not really ok to just regularly look at a smartphone while your boss is wrapping up a meeting, or whatever.

that doesn't apply to me. i just find them interesting and think they have the potential to look great on a dude.

The guts of mechanical watches are pretty neat. And on some outfits they can look nice. Just not my style, personally.
