Though I do have to admit I get a large kick about how much people laugh and poke fun at the Japanese Jesus thing.

I always have to go... well, yeah, sure, it is ridiculous, but, its just a liiiiiittle more likely than Jesus dying and coming back as a zombie, don't you think? :P

I am comforted by Richard Dawkins’ theory of memes. Those are mental units: thoughts, ideas, gestures, notions, songs, beliefs, rhymes, ideals, teachings, sayings, phrases, clichés that move from mind to mind as genes move from body to body. my position is that there almost never gets made superhero movies that are interesting.

For what it's worth, I think Ironman 3 is a great movie, and way better than 1 and 2.

This does not seem to be the popular opinion, though.

Ironman 3 was made in such a way to be geared toward me, though. Any time a film subverts my expectations I become incredibly more likely to fall in love with it. (See: Inglorious Basterds)

Ironman 3 was pretty crap in my opinion, but I can 100% see why its theme about scientists would have struck a cord with you in particular.

What I loved about it was that, at any particular moment, it tried to do exactly what you were not expecting it to do. I think that for a lot of people this results in an experience that feels disjointed and scattershot, but I thought the whole thing fit together really well. The thematic message was really strong and worked into most of the aspects of the movie pretty solidly.

But I feel that, to a large degree, Shane Black was trolling the viewer the entire time. He was at least trying to break formula, and that's something I personally really appreciate in a movie.

The Ebionite Christians (probably the closest of all the sects to what Jesus actually taught) didn't even have him come back. Though they were still very Jewish and circumcised their followers so it never caught on.
What you think "makes sense" has nothing to do with reality. It just has to do with your life experience. And your life experience may only be a small smidgen of reality. Possibly even a distorted account of reality at that. So what this means is that, beginning in the 20th century as our means of decoding nature became more and more powerful, we started realizing our common sense is no longer a tool to pass judgment on whether or not a scientific theory is correct. - Neil Degrasse Tyson

I am not a comic person, is this a comic thing or are you referring to Mary Shelley's badass book?

Cuz that undead was awesome except for the fact that it was depressing as fuck and I identified with it.

It felt a lot smarter than the other Ironman movies. In my opinion IM1 and IM2 felt very much like a really awesome cast making the best of a pretty dull and straightforward script.

Apparently in IM1 and IM2 RDJ did a lot more improvising then he ended up doing in IM3. A lot of people point to this as evidence that IM3 is a lesser, more phoned-in movie. I actually think it's the opposite; in IM3 the dialogue was still incredibly "Tony Stark" to me, rather I think that Black's script was the one RDJ wanted in the first place, and that Black really understood the character that RDJ had created. Everything about the story feels very Tony Stark.

I also love the degree to which Black recognizes that Tony Stark is cooler without the suit.
There is never a point in the entire movie where Stark is using a fully-powered suit that isn't hampered in some way, and the scrappy improvisation that he is forced to come up with to compensate is used to continually illustrate why Tony Stark is a great character.
