Yeah, no ... your logic is kind of bonkers.
Kidding aside, the lines "You should be grateful for this opportunity", "the economy", and "you were serious about rollerblading?" are fragments of the arguments the dino's family member/s used to convince him to take a presumably serious and reliable non-rollerblading job.
The line "This next job will be great" refers to the job that is replacing rollerblading.
Just picture the well-meaning partner/mother/unspecified-family-member's dialogue going like this: "This next job as an assistant accountant will be great! I know it will!"
And picture the fragments running through the dino's head in bed that night as:
"You should be grateful for this opportunity to work as an assistant accountant."
"The economy is uncertain and scary, which is why it is a good idea to have a nice proper career like accounting instead of rollerblading."
"You were serious about rollerblading? That is not a serious job. Accounting is a serious job."
But it doesn't need all those clunky expository additions, because it's quite clear as it stands.
Not trying to be rude, but I'm honestly surprised by the people who thought the dinosaur (hint: NOT A DRAGON) was lighting lamps with flaming breath, including lighting the lamps he hasn't got close to yet. I mean, huh, what?
I'd almost be less surprised if someone concluded the dino decided to smoke a joint while rollerblading off to meet his shady dealer to get more weed to make his impending serious job more tolerable.
edit: OK, I probably should have read the multiple other posts on the previous page already explaining the matter before I replied.
Lexxy's comic made me laughter OL because I wasn't expecting what happened. It started as a basic comic and transformed into something fascinating with a great twist on a tried and true plot line. That's why I think she won.
Good luck Monica, I hope you realize your dream, I believe you will do quite well at it. And I'll miss your spunkiness.

Good comic, but I think it works better with no text.
This is great but I kind of wish she had stuck with the open format of the last few panels. The final moment feels kind of claustrophobic and sort of diminished all boxed in like that. I like how in the original the skating sequence bleeds into the sleep panel. It gives me the sense that he even dreams about roller skating, and that it's his desire to skate that wakes him up.
But on the whole this is obviously a big improvement all around, and the story is much clearer with a few simple tweaks.

Me too, I also lament the loss of the super-happy dino-mum in panel 6. (the fact that she is so happy makes the strip more heart wrenching.)
I assume the format changes are due to the constraints of needing to fit a standard poster shape. I'd prefer a custom sized long-poster, but it's hard to find vendors to make those.
I bought one anyway.

So I know track record for theorizing based on tweets, blog posts and the like has been pretty dismal but here's something that I thought was interesting. In her newest comic/blog post Abby writes about taking time off from college to pursue cartooning (see here: http://www.jspowerhour.com/comics/69). Since stopping school is a pretty big step for a young, obviously intelligent person (at least to my mind it is), I wonder if that could mean she either:
1. Won strip search and is taking time off to go do that.
2. Maybe more likely, since Mike said a final winner doesn't exist yet (and assuming that's even true), she is in the top 2 and is still in the running, and is waiting to see what happens before enrolling in another semester.
OR, of course that could all be bullshit. Maybe she lost and is just feeling inspired to do comics. After all, I haven't forgotten the people who thought that Amy's posts about moving to Seattle were proof-positive that she wins the show!
My mind didn't need to travel very far to get to the creepy place. It's pretty unique to see a mother whisper tenderly into her child's mouth from an inch away.

I just want it on record that I was not titillated by it! My "wowee" was an exclamation of shock. Not excitement. I was just trying to say that I found it a strange choice for the comic.

I would be interested in hearing more about this. One thing I discovered during my time as a student is that "good" is a very subjective classification. I always considered a B to be a bad grade; those were my standards. However, an A was always a success in my books. I know people who got low As and felt like failures. I know people who were quite happy to have a B average. So there is plenty of room for interpretation. It wouldn't surprise me if Abby was just being hard on herself...
I agree that it would be super awkward for Tavis to fight Lexxy in another Elimination and lose! Would make for a great episode to see a rematch!
I believe I remember her saying this, and she said it in the way you do when your grades are really, objectively bad. Like academic probation bad.
Well, once you start heading in the general direction of academic probation the subjective element becomes significantly less pronounced...
You realize this could literally be the advice they're teaching her? "Yeah, Kickstarter is a great way to market your stuff, you can really use it as a launching point for a full-time comic making career!"
Not saying this us evidence that she won, obviously, just that it's certainly not evidence she didn't. The PA folk are all about the Kickstarter these days; it's a great tool to launch into something you otherwise wouldn't have the resources to do and Strip Search is an example starting you right in the face. Given Lexxy's particular situation (doesn't have an established strip, has grand visions for what she'd want to do given the resources) it would not shock me at all for that to be their first advice...
