What I really don't understand is that looking for property tax info, it says the city approved a 10% rate increase for the year, which would "for example add $150 to a house worth $150,000." Which makes sense, of course, but if that's what happened then it would mean my house is worth almost $500k, which it most definitely isn't.

Was it worth that much when you bought it? My city has it that way, which has some people paying tax on the 1960s cost of houses and some on the 2005 cost.

@AManFromEarth no, it appraised for just a few thousand more than we paid, still under $200k.

Woah, wtf. Game Informer says the map in GTA5 is 3.5 times the size of Red Dead Redemption??

Sounds about right for San Andreas.

Based on estimates and comparisons between San Andreas, RDR and the 3.5 times figure the map in 5 is going to be over twice the size of the old San Andreas map.

Which is about what I'd expect going from SA on ps2/xbox to GTA5 on ps3/360.

It's just one thing to expect or hope for, and another to be told that, and then actually experience. Combine that with the promise of five times the pedestrian density I feel like GTA5 is going to have an incredible amount of detail and explorability. I might get it at launch now.

I'm hoping a lot of the extra space is between the cities. What made San Andreas so fun to travel around for me was that it wasn't just city, bridge, more city, bridge, suburbs.

So they are having trouble finding a place to bury the dead Boston bomber and I made an absurd joke about putting him in Arlington because they have security not realizing someone offered their grave at Arlington already to bury him there.

The number of reasons why this clearly could never happen is pretty fucking large.

Matt can you appeal the property tax? You can in Colorado. Takes a little research on your part including an appraisal, houses of equal size in your area that sold recently and so on. But sometimes they will change it.

I've been playing Skyward Sword on my computer. I own it on the Wii but I never made it past the tutorial section because it was so fucking slow and frustrating and the graphics were horrendous.

I almost gave up the 3000th time the game interrupted play to tell me something stupid it could have said without stopping play (or something it could have just not said at all) but I made it through the 2 hour long tutorial portion of the game. The graphics are good as long as a PC is rendering them and the swordplay is a lot of fun!

I am comforted by Richard Dawkins’ theory of memes. Those are mental units: thoughts, ideas, gestures, notions, songs, beliefs, rhymes, ideals, teachings, sayings, phrases, clichés that move from mind to mind as genes move from body to body. After a lifetime of writing, teaching, broadcasting and telling too many jokes, I will leave behind more memes than many. They will all also eventually die, but so it goes. - Roger Ebert, I Do Not Fear Death
