Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.

I thought it was kinda boring and samey.
I found the game only lightly challenging, which I like, until that fight. And then it was crazy difficult.
When have you ever given up?
It would be the hugest timesink ever.
HL2 would have been a lot more fun, if the shooting stuff was better and more plentiful.

When I end with "OH MY GOD FINE" and change the subject.
I tried out Marvel Heroes. Played Hulk, Rocket Raccoon and Hawkeye.
It is Marvel Ultimate alliance with diablo controls. It is bleh. I see myself getting super bored really fast with it. And that is even with me saying Hulk smash constantly. Because seriously why play anything else? HULK SMASH!
Like he did more damage than Hawkeye or Rocket Raccoon. He took damage better than either. AND HE THROWS CARS! Who needs anything else?
My backlog is in the hundreds, I'm sure. Games I've decided I don't really like (Dark Messiah of Might and Magic), games that I haven't even installed (Ultima 4, say). It was only earlier this year that I installed the expansion to Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. Only a few years ago that I started playing the Dragon Warrior series, and this year that I finally finished 4.
I maintain that's it sad from a developer's perspective.
Or at least mildly frustrating.
You have this vision. You gather a team of talented people to write the story, design art and sound assets, program conditions and set up scenarios ... and less than half the people who spend money on the final product ends up seeing the whole thing? And with such granularity. I can understand a large drop off about the first, say, major boss. "Oh, forget this!" ... but a slow bleeding off of people as the game pushes towards the climax just seems backwards.
Cause that was babby stuff
You had to know the trick to dealing with the Hunters, granted. But I thought the game was very good at teaching you that, and
oh wait I just remembered the Neighbourhood Watch achievement
Yeah fuck that fight.
Huh.
that last post of mine was epic
I have a bunch of games I bought and then decided I didn't like within the first hour or so. If I don't actually want to play it, I'm not going to keep going just to try to justify the purchase. And then every now and then I get a game with a couple hundred hours on it, because I found one I actually liked.
I got a laugh out of the whole thing, but now it's on the last page and too far away to awesome. Sorry.
New Planetary Annihilation video.
I suppose now is a bad time to mention that I got that achievement.
I dunno. I liked the fight. Just ram the hunters or use the logs to kill them quickly, then toss the charge and shoot with the pistol. I think the game even helps you aim at them a little.
only 4 months later, apparently, he walked a 5k on his prosthetics in like an hour and five minutes.
that seems ridiculous impressive!
Gotta get the place cleaned up
Burning Wheel tomorrow
Did it allow you to adjust the difficulty on the fly?
Of course, that also requires developers to actually make the different difficulty levels mean anything.
Free MMO Überlist
Yeah I wasn't impressed either. It wasn't anywhere near as fun as Alliance.
I think so. I know the difficulty options are in the main menu, not attached to the new game screen... but I don't remember if changing them mid-game has any affect.
The fact that Gears of War allows you to do this is the only reason I finished it.
The critical difference for me was that it meant that the enemies that can one-shot you instead only hurt you to the extent that any additional damage would kill you.
If I buy Tomb raider that put me over three quarters, leaving me enough for oatmeal from the cafeteria and not much else.
I'm beginning to rue this.
There's a DBZ Abridged drinking game!
When the reward system scales with the game(better drops at higher difficulties for instance) this kinda breaks things and lets you game the system. Particularly if you can replay areas.
Of course, I really don't mind game breaking loopholes in single player games all that much, personally.

I was part of a crack group of G&T Gears players at the time 3 released, and it was only by being the 4th guy in that group that I ever managed to beat the final boss on Insane. People always rate the first game the hardest, but I dunno man. That bumblebee...
Beating the final boss of the first game on Insane was a much more fun experience though; I'd convinced my buddy to be the Dom to my Sub Marcus and he was most definitely the rookie guy. It was his first time playing Gears (or indeed a 3rd person shooter) and I'd thrown him in at the extreme deep end. Over the course of the harrowing campaign he evolved into an efficient cover grabbin' motherfucker, and we got to the final boss at 1am and just stalled out completely. I said, more than once, "lets call it quits, try again in the morning" and he insisted we press on. Finally, at 3am, I run out of ammo, shit be blowing up all over the place, and my buddy lets fly his last explosive arrow, nailing the dude in the face and finishing a hard game on the hardest setting.
We yelled and then quickly hushed up because it was 3 in the goddamned am.
2 miles, basic arm curls, crunches, just showered
phew

You know I don't drink! In fact I think it might be your single greatest disappointment in life!
Clearly you told me this while I was drinking.
