The Theon stuff drives me mad, and I know where it's leading.
My cousin made this game: Gem Pop. It's legitimately fun, particularly for people who enjoy Bejewled, Dr. Mario, Tetris, etc. kinds of games. Only two bucks! If you try it out, PM me with what you think of it.

I kind of want the Purple Wedding put off for a while so we can get Diana Rigg to continue to wander around King's Landing having awesome scenes with people.

IMO this was the biggest departure from the book the show has ever done. I guess Gendry is going to take the place of what's his name, the Boratheon that Stannis tries to have killed in Mel's black magic trick. I was afraid for a minute there that the meeting between Mel and Thoros was going to be an actual book spoiler.

    P.S. more ninja training.

P.P.S. Mel also takes the place of the old crazy soothsayer. Works for me.

Yeah I'm really curious how they plan to play out the Theon storyline long-term. It's just not realistic to have like two full seasons of torture porn. I guess they could actually start some of the Roose-at-Winterfell stuff earlier...
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no.

I would imagine they'll keep her around 'till she's no longer able to work.

Edric Storm, Yar. We basically have to have the leeches in the fire next episode, so Balon can die before Robb.

He also kills small animals, a classic (at least in Hollywood) childhood sign of socio/psychopathy.

    Its a real sign.

Well there you go. I don't know much about psychiatry other than that the pills make me stop seeing dead people.

The old school 3 signs of psychopathy were: animal cruelty, firestarting, bed-wetting at an older age as I remember.

I'm not sure how accepted that still is.

Well she doesn't have any scenes in ADWD, so unless she pops up again in the next two books the only reason they would keep her around is to replace a different character longer-term...

I can't think of any good candidates for that kind of thing, though.

Speaking of things we're running out of time for: where's Tywin's sharp lesson for Joffrey, dammit?

I don't get why they put the Theon stuff in. For a series that has so little time to tell such a complicated story, spending five minutes of each episode watching Theon get tortured seems like a strange decision.

They're not gonna do flashbacks, they can't do internal monologue and thoughts, they don't want to have one of the big part actors sit it out for a year.

It's been generally debunked, though the correlation is definitely there with those three factors

It's so we don't have the character on the sidelines for two years. Helps the viewers with a cast that is already intimidatingly sprawling, and you don't have to tell Alfie Allen "Okay, so... go do nothing, but you're not allowed to commit to anything long term because in two years we'll need you full time." That, and apparently the show runners are incredibly fond of Alfie.

Though, speaking of Theon... can't believe no one has brought up yet that Ramsay woke him with the horn. It's foreshadowing that, in season seven/Winds of Winter, Theon is going to kill Ramsay.

I'm more curious WTF they are going to do with Theon for another season. I mean, they are already kinda stretching this shit out just to fill one season.

    My theory is that
They will fake his death at Ramsay's hands and then have him absent forreals for season 4

Most of the horror of his torture comes from internal narration, so it makes sense that they would show it now and extend the cliffhanger

Holy shit the Ramsay stuff was horrifying. I knew that actor would nail the part but this is just bringing me right back to my seething hatred of him in DwD. Imagine telling the show people "Yeah, that guy doesn't die for at least another 4 seasons." Flaying Theon's finger was disgusting, I have no doubt they'll go full on with the Red Wedding now.

I feel bad for complaining about Ros so much last season now that she's dead. She was so hot. :(

The Littlefinger/Varys scene was probably the highlight for me. It's always magic whenever the two of them are onscreen together, and the music is just menacing with it's "these are the masters of the game" tone.

I feel like tonight's episode threw down some foreshadowing that didn't exist in the books in more than one way

    Specifically
Melisandre telling Arya that they would meet again, when they haven't even met the first time in the books

To be fair, we know Melisandre likes throwing out ominous sounding bullshit that can't be fact-checked. The TV writers are still playing Mel's sizeable limits pretty close to the vest for now, but we did get a hint of it tonight with her, "raising the dead is impossible!" reaction

Making it more obvious that Mel is off her rocker is another thing I think the show will get into eventually, but I would not be surprised if not-Arya and Mel came across each other in WoW now

The rest of her little spiel was DEFINITELY foreshadowing Arya's turn as a Faceless Gal

I'm curious how the Gendry plot plays out. I figure it hits the same beats as in the books with Davos getting him out, but once he's out, where does he go?

Back to the brotherhood? Probably not. Maybe he sails out of the series entirely.

I read a persuasive case somewhere that based on the books, Littlefinger was actually the one behind the attempt on Tyrion's life.

I like this take on it, it at least continues the theme of Joff doing Bad Shit from the bastard-slaying and Tyrion thinking Cersei is behind all of it

Littlefinger, or ser Pod's Rod Though the Face acting on his own. But Joffrey's just as believable.

Also, this was probably my favorite Jon stuff in ages if only just because it was thrilling and gorgeous. I was left wondering how the fuck they shot some of that stuff, especially the gorgeous views at the top that looked absolutely real. I guess the massive budget allows for some really amazing CG. The scene between Jon and Ygritte in the woods was also gorgeously photographed, and the chemistry between Kit/Rose is great. I wonder how early into Season 4 she bites it.

I thought the top was the fakest looking this show ever gets. It's more the symbolism anyway, but that was pretty obviously green screened.

And Ygritte's toast pretty soon, possibly as early as episode ten. Queenscrown should be one of the next two episodes.

The climbing scenes were really good. I was worried that Jon and Ygritte were gonna fall even though I knew they weren't.

Well, the very last shot of them kissing and then the zoom out looked fake, but when the clouds parted on Ygritte's face and Jon helped her up I thought it was gorgeous.

There must be a lot of show people who know by now. Roose said he's sending his bastard to Winterfell, Bolton's love flaying people, Ramsay was flaying Theon, their sigil is identical to Theon's current position...

The Iron Islanders were promised safe passage if they hand over Theon, why would they burn Winterfell...

I've seen plenty of show only people guessing it already. It's not much of a puzzle, but even that can be extremely challenging for your average TV viewer.

I read an interview with Alfie Allen. The dude who plays Ramsay would just hang out with Alfie on set all the time, because Alfie would have to just hang there all day while they shot. Kind of cool.

Fer reals though the guy playing Ramsay is fucking brilliant. I could never have thought about someone just perfectly nailing it. He's the right mix of vile and smart. Love it.
