Do you need two video cards for two monitors, or can I use the onboard and my one card... or can I plug them both into the same card (like one HDMI and the other DVI or VGA or whatever)?

so long as the card has two outputs you can use the same card.

my favourite post-apocalyptic setting is STALKER's

because it's not the fallout style EVERYWHERE IS A MAD MAX DESERT NOW AND IT WILL ALWAYS BE THAT WAY which is ludicrous on both counts

it's not really post-apocalyptic, since said apocalypse was kind of a very local one.

Dude, FO is a world that is rebuilding. Look at how much change there is from FO1 to FO2. Bethesda fucked up with their "200 years after the war everything is still terrible" world, but Bethesda fucks up everything.

this was an intentional choice i guess, they figured the east coast would get fucked way harder than the west coast

frankly i'm fine with bethseda having their east games and obsidian doing west games because

    1) The East can keep the Brotherhood of Steel and Super Mutants and all that, the West's factions are way more interesting and it seems like Obsidian deliberately lowered the numbers of Mutants and
is having the Brotherhood die out slowly

so that there's no overlap, so the East can keep doing.... what ever they're doing

and 2) I want the story of the NCR to unfold without Bethseda getting their hands in it, so let them keep the East Coast

Brotherhood if steel is based on West coast. It makes no sense that try migrated across the country and became good guys in the process. Super mutants are not the product of radiation, they are made with FEV, which should not be in the east coast. Basically, every single thing about FO3 is wrong.

Well it's like, my dream is relatively tame to begin with: having real, consequential policymaking input in the federal gubmint, an NGO/IGO, or at a think tank doing work on the Middle East. I'm also on a realistic trajectory to get there: my grad school has great networking and other resources, and I may also apply to a PhD program (because apparently a PhD is basically the bare minimum required to do substantive think tank work).

So I'm relatively well set to actually achieve my dream job... but nothing is ever 100%, and that's the cause of a non-trivial amount of angst for me atm.

tl;dr: The future, man. It's, like, Unknowable.

I have a friend doing policy work in the federal government

He says it is profoundly frustrating because every single thing - even policy everyone agrees on - takes years to make it into the real world

He did some thing about making it illegal to sell stolen car parts because it used to be a big loophole, and it took years while everyone who saw it was like "oh yeah that's perfect, exactly what we need."

Probably even worse with international stuff

You can only sometimes use the onboard card and a discrete video solution. It will or will not work. Depends on the Mobo, there might be a bios setting.

If your video card has two ports, you can normally use both and extend the screen to the second monitor. Until it is real driver land, they will show the same thing or the other will be blank, but once you are in a OS you can choose if you want to extend your desktop to the second display, or do silly pointless mirroring.

I don't think it makes much sense to judge pop stars like gaga or ke$ha as musicians. They barely even claim to be musicians. They need to be judged as entertainers/pop stars. You wouldn't say a band sucks because they are terrible at dancing or have bad stage shows, because that isn't what they're about.

gaga is actually a pretty good musician. Which, yeah, is mostly irrelevant.

They both actually do a ton of their own songwriting (which is understandable, as they started as songwriters)
