People talked about the suit porn in the first, and the second and even in the avengers. But I think this movie was the equivalent of coke fueled, group suit porn. You saw everything, and things you were unaware were possible.

Which makes sense as stark is totally narcissistic enough to fuck himself.

    Fin Fang Foom is not

It would be nice if you're right, but outside of the circle of people who know the character, I'm not so sure. Maybe I'm wrong and it's a perfectly decent sounding name that isn't silly at all.

I gotta say, I really love this exchange from Captain America and I hope we'll see Toby Jones reprise his role again.
He got cast for Cap2 IIRC, but I didn't want to spoil it for anybody.

I can't see people ever thinking Fin Fang Foom the name is anything but silly. If the alliteration weren't enough, "foom" is just a silly sounding word.

Well, Obi-Wan was introduced forever ago, in a fantasy space setting.

And, it was Jar Jar Binks and company on some weird planet with giant fish and other stuff I can't remember or have blocked out. It wasn't Jar Jar Binks the twenty foot gungan in New York.

The Avengers movies are ostentibly based on our world, and people expect something slightly different from them. Imagine they introduced some villian named Gargax the Magnificent during the last movie instead of Loki, who was already in Thor and who has mythological stories backing him as well. Marvel's done a good job in laying the groundwork, but triple F would come out of nowhere for people who already don't know the comics.

There's my opinion on the matter, and I think Marvel will take that path too. Just like they did with the Tesseract trippy jing brought up.

Nickname? Codename? They'll think of something to explain it away, and it still sounds better than:

    Fin

    Fang

    Foom

You see a fin rise from the ground
Then a fang as the beast smiles wickedly
Then you hear foom as he burns you alive

Make it a folk tale in some rural village r and you're good.

The Avengers, a film about a genius asshole in robot armor, a soldier from World War 2, a giant green rage monster, a Norse god and two assassins fighting off an alien invasion led by another Norse god is the second highest grossing film of all time.

Audiences can handle some pretty weird shit

I agree, I'm mostly saying that for the sake of people who think otherwise.

I personally know people who think Pacific Rim is "silly" and "makes no sense" but they eat up all of the MCU and Avatar.

Avatar made its money off of technical bullshit and 3D magicry.

People didn't go to see it to watch the plot.

Just re-watched the Agents of SHIELD trailer for the billionth time

I still cannot believe the MCU exists

    Well, exists and is thriving

If you had sat down 2008 Blank and said "Hey Iron Man is going to be really good, but also it leads to Hulk, Captain America and Thor getting their own franchises as well as sequels to Iron Man, and they all come together in an Avengers movie. Twice. And there is a TV show about SHIELD that takes place in the same universe and also might have Luke Cage in it? Oh and they are making Guardians of the Galaxy."

I would have called you insane because who the hell could have guessed they could pull all of this madness off

    goddamn I love you Marvel

Yeah, that's pretty much me. I've been mentioning why I think audiences won't accept his Foomness, but if Marvel can do it; if they can make a movie and play it straight with that character, there's pretty much nothing they can't do.

For me, it's an I'll believe it when I see it situation, but, damn if it wouldn't be amazing. I'm still trying to picture RDJ saying that name with a straight face though.

no ones actually got to call it Fin Fang Foom all the time

it could just be an off-hand one time joke

it could be the equivalent of say Ellen Brandt or Jack Taggart in Iron Man 3.

Some guy could just be looking at files and it just pops up for 1 second and is never addressed.

there are so many ways to mention fin fang foom, without calling it fin fang foom

The most disappointing thing about IM3 to me was simultaneously the coolest thing.
The plane rescue. Such a great sequence with genuine tension and a cool resolution, and then oh hey he wasn't even in the suit, no risk on Tony's part to save those people. Way to undercut the moment.

They have sold it though. For decades. Hes been used in several iron man shows as a headlining villian.

Children will most definitely buy a cool looking dragon and Adult movie goers will only apply scrutiny to something like that name if theyre not invested in the story .
