Seriously, though, Jarvis is probably the least plausible thing in any of these movies.
Less plausible then Killian breathing fire?

    Big time.

I easily accept a hyper-advanced AI over that.

How much do you know about...

    computer?

They are really powerful calculators right?

Now imagine a calculator so powerful that it is basically a person.

Hahahaha, farmin' Geth awesomes today, I guess.

Oh, I get that Jarvis is crazy unlikely and such.
I just put fire-breathing a bit over it.

@Sarukan, I feel like we are arguing a crazy sci-fi thingy versus a crazy fantasy/magic thingy.

That is to say, I don't think either of us wins this argument.

Because by having it, we both lose.

I kind of wish we had had more "Captain America struggles with modern day everything" in Avengers

I'd love this to be some sort of running gag in Cap 2.

There are a lot of really great things in the future and I'd like to see more Steve excited over something amazing that we take for granted.

Also, I know some folks commented otherwise, but I personally liked:
remote controlled suits. Good callback to the early 90s stuff, which is when I started reading Iron Man.

    Oh yeah

I think stuff like the Helicarrier, where it's just Cap absolutely amazed and bewildered by something crazy

Or even some more lighthearted stuff, like his comment on God's dressing habits when Black Widow is talking about Thor/Loki

Not even just lighthearted stuff. I believe our present is amazing and glorious in a lot of ways and I'm sick of stories where people from the past are horrified by what they find. There is no avoiding some of that but I'd like to think that if you traveled back to the 30's and grabbed people the more open minded would be proud of what the help create.

Well, I mean lighthearted in the sense that it's not really saying anything substantial one way or another. It's more of a gag than anything else.

The helicarrier scene is I think the sort of thing you're talking about? And yeah, I'd like to see more of that too.

As someone who knows a bunch of fire-breathers, getting any sort of fire within yourself is what leads to a slow, painful death.

What if Jarvis isn't an AI

What if it's Paul Bettany, in a control room somewhere

Tony's just talking to him all the time while he constantly monitors

The best "Cap adjusting to the modern world" stuff is in Mark Waid's Man Out Of Time mini

Steve is inquisitive and interested in the wonders of the present day and open to new things. There is a fantastic scene with him and Tony where Tony takes him to the Air and Space Museum and then shows him MLK's I Have A Dream speech.

But he is also told about Watergate and Vietnam and what happened to MLK and is under no delusions that the modern day is a perfect utopia while also being proud of the strides America has made.

It is probably my favorite Cap story.

you know i thought of something

war machine movie, or some other movie set in iron man's corner of the universe but not revolving around tony himself

Ghost fucking with Stark Industries shit while also messing with other corporate stuff, but Tony's too busy doing something else so Rhodey and/or Pepper have to deal with it

    Nah.

I'd say the only smart thing about DC's approach is that they haven't adopted a hasty "anything you can do I can do better" approach. That wouldn't have gone anywhere good.
