Our very own Kakos was on TF2 Friday night with the PA regulars and I using his Oculus Rift, which he is apparently developing something for, and said it was a bit disorienting at first and has no way of letting you see your keyboard yet, but that it's very cool and feels very realistic otherwise, and really brings you more into the experience.

And the other day it comes on the radio and my wife goes "turn the station i dont like that song"

Saw some of these at The Art Institute of Chicago today. The voyeuristic element really speaks to the degenerate in me.

For this 1998-2000 series of portraits, photographer Shizuka Yokomizo left anonymous letters on the doorsteps of random ground floor apartments with the message:
“Dear Stranger,
I am an artist working on a photographic project which involves people I do not know…. I would like to take a photograph of you standing in your front room from the street in the evening.”
These letters gave simple instructions for when the artist would come and take the photograph. The only contact she had with the subjects of these voyeur portraits was when Shizuka sent the subjects a print of the image and her contact info in case they didn’t want the photograph exhibited.

Virtual Reality is going to be a hell of a mixed bag, that's for sure. How will you react to a man shooting you in the head? A monster jumping out from the dark and ripping you limb from limb? A rogue backstabbing you? A fall from a high place or out of a plane? A sexual proposition from a character in an RPG?

How much are developers going to animate this stuff? How real will the experience get? What are the implications of being more able to feel the death and destruction you visit on NPCs and other players when it happens to you too, and getting more intimate with characters in games, in more ways then one? What kinds of shit's going to go down in your brain box?

The problem is lack of a jumping hardware solution. You would need some kind of harness to suspend you and it would take up a whole room.
