Sorry if you don't understand basic gunplay in MGS1 :rotate:

For real though outside of the Hind D that's probably my favorite MGS1 boss fight

see you know Twin Snakes is the real one because of course you'd just shoot across the middle instead of chasing him around with a camera that makes it impossible to see him

My favorite part of Twin Snakes is how every cutscene has the same stock airplane noise.

And hoooooo boy does it not just show up when there's an airplane.

I played a version of Risk called Godstorm (at least I think that was the name), based on mythology. One of the perks of the setting was that you could set up temples and bring dead armies back to life.

I was playing this with 2 other people, and one of them definitely had the upperhand. So myself and the other person decided to team up against him, forcing him all the way back to a Northern territory. The problem was, he had a temple set up there.

There were troops everywhere on his one piece of land. We ended up giving up because it was 3 in the morning, meaning to pick it back up when we woke up, but we never did.

Woah, sending this post to M.R.E. Melding
I think we've uncovered a new pathway to undeath.

nah, clearly he's a ghost with unfinished business. Risk.

I think it's an awful anti-feminist making salient points about Kotaku by accident. By this I mean they're seeing shit they don't like and investigated because "they wouldn't put up these articles I don't like if it wasn't for a nefarious reason!" The problem is this applies to every fucking article on Kotaku and not just the anti-sexism ones. Every single article is put up, headlined the way they are, written the way they are, and crosspromoted the way they are specifically to make Gawker money. Anyone with two braincells could have seen that years ago. This douche is only seeing it now because he was previously pandered to and now that he isn't, he's finally at a vantage point to realize how shitty Kotaku really is.

    ah, okay! carry on

    wait

    ugh

I'll be honest, and possibly open myself up to some harsh words but I didn't find anything terribly anti-feminist in my first read of the article

upon reflection it is suspect that the guy doesn't reference the rest of Kotaku's horrible journalistic practices and frames it all through the equality lens, but I didn't take that to mean the guy wasn't having issues with the site before Kotaku's clumsy and, yes, I'll agree, manipulative treatment of gender inequality issues propped up

he does admit it's a real issue and one the industry should be and is tackling, but I don't think his point is 'these feminists are making kotaku crazy-bucks', his point is 'Kotaku never gave a shit about these issues before they realized they could drive more pageviews than ever before from both sides', which is fucking despicable

but then he does defend Vanillaware so maybe I'm the dumbass

The first two paragraphs of that article in TLDR form would be:

Kotaku is making me uncomfortable by looking at equality issues in games and I don't like it.

The writer is being very dismissive of the issues, acting as if they're being thrust upon us to drive up ads. Acting like they are engineered issues.

Basically he's got a dog whistle, and he's blowing it as hard as he can.

Basically he's got a dog whistle, and he's blowing it as hard as he can.

I'm not sure if he is acting like they're engineering issues, though

like, he's more forgiving than most of us would be, particularly in relation to the Vanillaware stuff and I can see why the impulse would be 'this dude is calling it a manufactured issue as a way of damning Kotaku', but I don't quite see it that way

I do think the author means well and cares about equality, but he's upset at Kotaku's woefully weak journalistic techniques in handling it and feels like they're using cynical tactics to expose the issue rather than, you know, being journalists

but again, I could be giving the benefit of the doubt to someone who doesn't deserve it, and I need to make it clear that I am not necessarily defending this guy 100%. I just think he means better than some of you believe he does, and I could be totally wrong here
